The I
CHING, or "Book of Changes" was compiled, on the basis of much older
material, by King Wen, who ruled China in the twelfth century B.C. and
his son, the Duke of Chou, as well as commentaries attributed to
Confucious and his disciples. The oracle book is based upon the
spiritual philosophy that by correct action, men and women are capable
of making their own destiny. By making proper responses to particular
circumstances and events, one can cease being blown hither and thither
by the winds of fate and use one's own strength to decide what the future
holds.
