Schumacher College is an
international centre for ecological studies based in the beautiful
Devonshire countryside of south-west England. The College welcomes
participants aged 20 to 80 from all over the world. Our new course
program for 2004/5 features the return of some of our most popular
teachers (such as Vandana Shiva, Amory Lovins, Jane Goodall, Juliet Schor
and David Orr), as well as some well-known names who are new to the College,
including Patch Adams, Deepak Chopra, Derrick Jensen and Alice Oswald.
Science, health, psychology, globalization, philosophy, creativity and
ecological design are all featured, alongside our regular courses for
business people and teachers. In addition to our usual three-week courses,
we are also offering an extended range of shorter (five-day) courses for a
general audience.

This site serves the needs of
the emerging multi-sensory humanity - the thirst for harmony,
cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life. Current social structures
cannot meet these needs, and so, they are dissolving. We are creating
their replacements - seven billion of us, together. In other words, this
web site is dedicated to spiritual growth and social transformation. It

musician who travels the world performing "The Peace Concert" in some of
the greatest areas of violence and discord. James Twyman is also the
founder of the "Cloth of Many Colors" peace project which weaves the
prayers of hundreds of thousands of people from around the world into a
single quilt nearly a mile long. This amazing quilt has been presented
at the United Nations in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, and was
literally wrapped around the U.S. Capitol on September 20, 2000.
He is
